Structural Demolition and Its Benefits

Structural demolition, compared to complete building demolition, usually entails selective demolition of concrete and steel structures. This service is typically necessary to seismically retrofit or strengthen an old structure to bring it up to current code. Structural demolition is sometimes used to add features to existing structures, such as additional stairs and elevators in a hotel or mall or extend an existing structure. When structural demolition applies to a project, one of the primary benefits is that an owner or developer may retain and utilize significant elements of the existing structure and avoid the much higher expenses involved with complete building demolition and rebuild. Recycling and reusing concrete

Concrete Removal

Concrete pavement removal may be done without damaging the subgrade, allowing removal and replacement operations to be completed quickly. Today's highly productive walk-behind flat saws allow for the effective saw cutting of concrete pavement up to 32" deep. Depending on the disposal process, concrete pavement is sawed, cut into variable sections and removed using a slab crab bucket on an excavator without damaging the subgrade. The slab crab removal method allows the machine to lift pieces from the subgrade while still sitting on the concrete paving. The fundamental advantage of the saw cut and removal method for concrete paving is demonstrated in highway pavement and fast-track runway repair projects and operating facilities where sub-surface disturbances are not permitted.
